Serialization

The modern consumer is a person who is increasingly aware of their own purchasing choices, and therefore demanding. Packaging serialization is a process that allows you to meet these customers’ expectations, as well as to guarantee the highest quality of the product and increase trust among recipients by confirming the originality of the goods.

What is serialization in packaging manufacture?

Serialization in packaging manufacture involves assigning a unique code or serial number to each package. It makes it possible to track the path the product has taken from the manufacturer to the consumer. Serialization is used in many industries, including pharmaceutical, food or cosmetic industry.

During the serialization process, a unique identifier is assigned to the product, which may include information such as a batch number, date of manufacture or country of origin. This data is stored in specially designed systems, which additionally allow the goods to be tracked at every stage of the supply chain.

Serialization in packaging manufacture is designed to prevent counterfeiting, reduce the risk of fraud, and allow quick response in the case of product or delivery problems. With serialization, businesses can also track purchasing trends, draw up an inventory of stocks faster and streamline the manufacturing process.

  1. Design preparation – the printing house receives the design of the packaging, which includes a blank space for the code or serial number.
  2. Code generation – the printing house, based on the specifications provided by the customer generates a unique code or serial number to be placed on the packaging.
  3. Preparation of the printing mold – the codes are added to the printing mold that will be used when printing on the packaging.
  4. Package printing – the package is printed with the unique marking in mind.
  5. Quality control – after the work is completed, the packaging is subjected to quality control, the purpose of which is to verify the correctness and legibility of the codes.
  6. Registration of the code – the printing house registers the markings in a computer system, which allows them to be tracked and verified.
